Brother L is a survivor of cancer. He carries 2 pouches with him for 12 years now. He looked so cheerful though. He jokes that he has no need to queue for toilet. He told us that God has a special purpose in his life. God granted his wish to be a teacher (part-time basis) and also he volunteers in hospital. . He lives an active life, and looks fit and healthy. Above all, he has such a positive attitude. He is such an encouragement to me.
I did not expect Brother H to visit me the second time in the hospital. He had just completed an appointment with NCC, and asked Sister Ong, the Snr Nurse at the ward, whether he could visit anyone at the ward. I felt so blessed to hear him shared his story. He has retired with a CPF withdrawal amount of mere S$4800, but he is one of the richest person I have seen. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer many years back. The doctor could not bear to break the news to him. He was however relaxed and asked the doctor whether he had the disease. Doctor nodded and told him unfortunately the cancer had spread to other organs. He still had the amazing courage to joke with the doctor. The doctor admired him, and related his courage to many colleagues. He was operated straightaway. Chemotherapy of the most direct form, which was attaching a ball like dispenser to his body was given. This allowed medication dripping into his body 24/7 basis. He survived the disease, and now he is encouraging people who are suffering. He gave practical tips on how to take care of oneself after the op.:
how to move around,
avoid lifting heavy stuffs for the first few months;
accepting the fact of life;
staying healthy through proper exercising etc.... He now climbs staircases to his 8-storey high flat. He does not look his age of later 50s.
They are such wonderful testimony for the Lord, and I am so blessed to hear directly from them, witnessing their positive attitude, and their willingness to help others so selflessly. They are indeed like angels from God. Thank God for these 2 brothers that He sent. I am motivated to be like them.
